NCPSO/CWA National Training and Leadership Conference
HURRY AND MARK THESE DATES ON YOUR CALENDAR!
On August 27 and 28, 2010, the National Coalition of Public Safety Officers/Communications Workers of America is conducting it's 8th annual NCPSO/CWA national training and leadership conference in San Diego, CA at the Holiday Inn. The NCPSO/CWA is the law enforcement division of CWA and represents officers throughout the country, with an especially strong representation in the southwestern and western parts of the United States. Here are the particulars about the program:
- Offensive Bargaining Tactics and Strategies
- National Labor Law Updates
- Government Pensions Under Attack
On Thursday evening August 26th there will be a welcome reception.
On the Friday morning August 27th, there will be a training program from 9:00 AM to 5:00 PM. The speakers will include:
• Mark Makler is a principal Shareholder in the law firm of Garrettson, Gallagher,, Fenrich, & Makler, P.C., (www.ggfm.com) which he joined in 1996. GGFM specializes in representation of Oregon and Washington public safety organizations, including law enforcement, firefighters, corrections, emergency communications, and public safety support.
. Regina Markey is an attorney with the union-side labor firm Beins Axelrod, PC in Washington, DC. Regina has spent many years advising labor organizations and financial institutions on pension fund issues from a worker’s perspective, both as a consultant and employee of the AFL-CIO and its affiliated organizations.
• David Rosenfeld a partner at Weinberg, Roger & Rosenfeld in Alameda, California, has been practicing law on behalf of labor unions since his graduation from University of California, Berkeley, Boalt Hall School of Law, in 1973. His book entitled "Offensive Bargaining" and the strategies he has developed have been used by unions throughout the country as effective weapons against anti-union employers.
On Saturday morning August 28th, from 8:30 AM to 1:00 PM, there will be an NCPSO/CWA national leadership meeting. There will be nominations and elections for Executive Board positions, awards presented, and a raffle. You must be present to win the raffle. This meeting will include a working lunch at approximately 11:30; and we should be finished by 1:00 PM.
If you register before June 25th the cost will be $225.00 per person. The cost for this program will be $275.00 per person after June 25th. The cost of a room at the Holiday Inn will be $110.00. You can reserve a room using one of the following two (2) options:
